Croceria Aerea Del DecennaleA very large (two sheet), extremely rare Italian futurist period aviation poster by Luigi Martinati. This piece advertises what soon became a significant piece of aviation history. Conceived as a propaganda event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mussolini's regime, General Italo Balbo flew an armada of 25 Savoia-Marchetti S. 55X "Flying Boats" manned by nearly 100 officers on a mass flight from Rome to Chicago and New York and back to Rome. The flight established the reputation of the Italian government and its Air Force as well showcasing the famous Savoia-Marchetti seaplane.

Luigi Martinati (1893-1983) was a highly respected poster artist in the Italian Futurist movement. After World War II he devoted himself exclusively to creating film posters.
