Explorers Prefer Shell: Shell Oil poster by Edward McKnight Kauffer, 1934. Kauffer (1890-1954) is considered one of the most influential graphic designers of the 20th Century. Originally a painter from the U.S. he moved to Britain in 1914, and became Shell's principal poster designer, producing over 180 artworks for the company during the 1920s and 1930s.
