Edgardo Simone Ceramic Vase with Applied Figures: American modern period vase by Edgardo Simone, circa 1940; two female nudes depicted in high relief. Signed at base.
Born in Brindisi, Italy and classically trained as a sculptor, Simone created war, funeral and other public monuments in over 26 Italian cities. He immigrated to the States in the late 1920s eventually settling in Los Angeles, where he received several commissions from stars and dignitaries alike; his figural vases and plaques are particularly prized.
