Choisy Le Roi Majolica Charger: A Japonisme influence French earthenware charger by Choisy le Roi, late 19th century. From its founding 1804, until it closed in 1938, the Faience Choisy le Roi manufactury was one of the most successful industries in Choisy. The mark on this piece indicates that it was produced under the directorship of Hippolyte Boulenger, who headed the company from 1863-1892. During that time, Choisy's Asian inspired designs won awards internationally.
