Portrait of a Lady: Uncommon American Art Nouveau period terra cotta wall plaque by Alphonse LeJeune, circa 1900, most likely the work of the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company of Chicago (1877-1956). The image is a stylish Victorian woman sculpted in high relief, quite possibly Sarah Bernhardt.

LeJeune worked in the terra cotta medium in Belgium France and Germany; he was the chief artist of Northwestern Terra Cotta for eighteen years. Marked A. Le Jeune Sc. Copy Rtd," (copy retained) upper left.

Dimensions listed are for the piece without custom frame.
