La Participacion: A vintage Mexican poster by Santos Balmori, early 1950s. The piece features a quote from Miguel Aleman, who was President of Mexico from 1946-1952, essentially encouraging women's participation in civic affairs. Women were granted the right to vote in Mexico during Aleman's term in office. Santos Balmori (1899-1992) was a Mexican born artist strongly influenced by the prevalent European art movements of the 1920s and 1930s.
