Fantoni "Brutalist" Style Bowl:  An Italian Brutalist torch cut copper bowl by Marcello Fantoni, circa 1950. "Brutalist" refers to an aggressive 20th century style characterized by rough textures and often unfinished materials.

Fantoni (1915-2011) was a strong proponent of "brutalism," his archaic stylizations inspired by Etruscan models. He opened the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in 1936, and is considered one of the masters of mid century figurative and abstract ceramic and metal works.
