Salon de 100: Fau (1858-1919) was a very prolific French illustrator and cartoonist. He worked extensively for Le Chat Noir creating illustrations for "shadow shows" such as "Le Secret du Manifest" and "Une Affaire d'Honneur". He also illustrated for humorous magazines such as Le Rire and Le Chat Noir's publication, as well as many children's books.

This work displays Fau's fluency in the Art Nouveau style. Here, a woman is admiring the works at the Salon des Cent, with a catalog of the exhibition visible. The Salon des Cent was a Paris exhibition which showcased the work of contemporary graphic designers. This poster advertises for the current exhibition in 1900.
