Les Boules de Niege: Berthon (1872-1909) was a French Art Nouveau artist and student of Eugene Grasset. He studied in Villefranche-sur-Saone as a painter, and later at the Ecole Normale d'Enseignement de Dessin. Most of Berthon's lithographs do not include text, as they were designed to exist as artworks in their own right.
The title "Les Boules de Neige" (snowballs) makes reference to the beautiful Guelder flowers by which the young maiden is surrounded.
