La Polvere di Pirlimpinpin: Experience the "magic dust" of Pirlimpinpin in this spectacularly colorful six-sheet (81.75" x 111.5" !) Italian musical theatre poster by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, 1907. This is an advertisement for "La Polvere di Pirlimpinpin," a three act musical by Constantine Lombardo and Carlo Vizzotta. The work, which premiered in Milan in February, 1908 involves a story line revolving around a "magic powder" and its effects.

Metlicovitz (1868-1944) was a self taught painter, portraitist and illustrator who joined the renowned Ricordi printing house in 1891, quickly ascending to technical director. He is recognized as one of Italy's greatest poster artists.
