Weleda: An Italian Art Deco Period poster by Xanti (Alexander "Xanti" Schawinsky), 1936. This piece advertises dental hygiene items from Weleda, a Swiss firm founded in 1921 which produces all natural health and beauty products to this day.
Swiss born Xanti (1904-1979) studied at the Bauhaus and moved to Italy when the Bauhaus closed in 1933. There, he worked for the Studio Boggeri in Milan, creating posters for companies such as Illy, Motta and Cinzano which are considered classics of commercial design from the 1930's.
