Dragon Mirror: Elaborately carved French walnut "Dragon Mirror" attributed to Gabriel Viardot, late 19th century.
Viardot (1830-1906) was a Parisian cabinet maker known for his interpretations of Oriental models, particularly after he had the opportunity to view the Chinese and Japanese furniture on display at the "Exposition Universalle" of 1878. He developed a taste for fantasy motifs, such as the dragon here.
