Perfume Lamp: An early 20th century American ceramic ballerina perfume lamp by Fulper Pottery. This example has a primarily golden yellow glaze, but this model was manufactured in many colors. The lamp is in two pieces with the ballerina lifting off the base. The base accommodates a bulb in the center which is surrounded by an indented area meant to hold perfume. Holes in the figure's head release the heated fragrance.
Fulper Pottery Company was incorporated in 1899 in Flemington, New Jersey. The firm became Stangl Pottery in 1929. This example undoubtedly was "marked" with a paper label - which the company used to identify its products from @ 1909-1916.
