"Disko" Metal Vase: Danish Art Deco period "disko" metal vase by Just Andersen, circa 1930. Andersen (1884-1943) was born in Greenland, but moved to Denmark, where he trained as a silversmith. However, he was attracted to bronze materials, and is credited with inventing a special metal alloy he called "disko," named after Disko Bay in his native Greenland. The alloy included certain proportions of lead, tin and antinomy, and closely resembled bronze.
