Motocycles Comiot: large (2 sheet) turn of the century period poster by Theophile Steinlen. In this advertisement for Comiot motorcycles, the artist minimizes the vehicle itself in favor of illustrating its powerful effect, as the smartly dressed woman riding the cycle scatters the gaggle of geese in her wake.
Swiss born Steinlen (1859 - 1923) became one of the foremost poster artists in Paris at the turn of the century, along with his contemporary Toulouse-Lautrec. He is perhaps best known for his iconic "Chat Noir" image.
